A Little Taste of New Zealand

Day 3 on the north island (in the Northland as they say) we met some friends who took us to this lovely cafe in Matakana, just north east of Auckland.

When I told the waitress the interior reminded me of California she said “thank you!” Being born in California I forget people are so fond of it. If someone told me a cafe I worked at in SoCal reminded them of New Zealand I’d be a little confused thinking of Moari tribal culture in modern American cuisine.

Possibly the best carrot cake I have ever had.
